Should my child's first golf set be a real metal set or a plastic golf set?
This question can truly only be answered by you: the parents or grandparents. AllKidsGolfClubs.com has real and plastic clubs for children as young as 2 years of age, but metal clubs are much heavier than plastic ones and they could be potentially dangerous if used inappropriately.
Two key aspects to determine whether your child is ready for metal golf clubs are: 1) is your child a rule follower and more mature for his/her age and 2) How strong is your child? Is your child more on the reckless side and is he/she more difficult to control? Then maybe it's a wise decision waiting to purchase a metal set until he or she is older, a little more mature and more likely to follow directions.
Additionally, the youngest children might not be strong enough to properly swing a metal golf club. In order to check if your child is ready, have him hold his arm straight out from his body, parallel to the ground with the club in his hand. Have him point his thumb into the air. If he can hold the club in that position parallel to the ground without it falling, he is strong enough to swing that club confidently.

Which Clubs Should Be in My Child's First Golf Bag?
AllKidsGolfClubs.com recommends three clubs in your child's first golf bag. A driver or fairway wood, a 7 iron (or other mid iron) and a putter. These three clubs will allow your child to experience hitting all three types of clubs. The distance she gets between clubs is so small at this age that confusing her with additional clubs in her bag just isn't necessary or helpful.
How Do I Select the Correct Club Size for my Toddler?
Please remember you should always select your children's golf clubs based on their height and not their age. Measure your child (in inches) with his or her shoes on. Then go to our height ranges and select the range that fits your child. All the clubs and sets that fit your child will now appear on the page. Each product has its own height range recommendation. Please make sure that you select a product where your child's current height is in the lower part of the range to ensure the longest use possible. Most kids golf clubs will last at most two seasons until they are outgrown.
