If you or your child is left handed, you might have heard at some point that you should teach him to play right handed. Many courses are designed for right handed golfers (dog legs and bunker positions) and right handed golf clubs are easier to find. However, in most cases, AllKidsGolfClubs.com recommends that you teach your left handed child to golf left handed. In the vast majority of cases, your child will golf better when using his dominant hand.
It will be easier to learn and more enjoyable for your child. If you want to verify which hand your child prefers to golf with, hand them a stick and see how he holds it and stands when swinging it. If you try and teach a left handed toddler to golf right handed, he is likely to get quickly discouraged because of a lack of success in making good contact with the ball. Making golf fun is the most important aspect of teaching a toddler to golf, so seeing immediate success will go a long way in learning to love the game of golf.
